#The Good Stuff State of Education
We have so many great things going for us here in Chickasha! When you compare us to other peer cities in Oklahoma, we are one of the few that has a Hospital, Fairgrounds, Drive-In Movie Theater, an active and historic Downtown, an Airport, Sports Complex, intersection of three major highways ( I-44, US 81 & US 62) and the nationally recognized and tradition rich Chickasha Festival of Light!
That’s an impressive list, but what makes it even better is the State of Education. Under the leadership of three talented and strong visionaries, Chickasha Public Schools, Canadian Valley Technology and the University of Science and Arts are all thriving!
On Rick Croslin’s first day as Superintendent of Chickasha Schools he closed them all down because of Covid. He lead a talented team of educators and administrators through all the challenges of remote learning, social distancing and vaccines. After navigating that, he gathered input from parents, students, teachers and alumni and created a strategic plan for Chickasha Schools’ future. He also turned vision into reality by passing the largest school bond in the history of our town. With the amazing team he has assembled, the future has never looks brighter for our Public Schools!
Dr. Kayla Hayle returned to her alma mater a little over a year ago. She brought an incredible positive spirit and a can-do attitude that has changed the culture at Oklahoma’s only Liberal Arts University. She is tackling all the tough issues head on and consistently shares her positive vision for the University’s future. The increase in enrollment causes excitement throughout all of our Community. New partnerships are being created throughout our town, the County, the Chickasaw Nation and other educational institutions.
Dr. Gayla Lutts is the Superintendent for all three campuses of Canadian Valley Technology. The importance of young people learning trades is at an all-time high, much like the CVT’s enrollment. Dr. Lutts is active in our Community, regularly attending EDC meetings, serving on the TIF committee as well as supporting all the staff at the CVT’s Chickasha campus. In order for Chickasha to bring in new businesses, we must have workforce. CVT actively trains and educates both high school students and adults alike.
So how are we doing in Chickasha Oklahoma? When you really analyze all the data, we have it all, but we must tell our story. Every story begins with education and thanks to our three educational institutions, our future is bright and definitely full of #TheGoodStuff!
