#TheGoodStuff Vision for the Future?
If you live or work in the Chickasha area, what do you want to see happen here? I’m not asking what new businesses you want to open up, I am asking what do you think we need to do as a Community in the next few years? What do you like about what’s going on now and what do you think needs to be improved upon? Let’s start by acknowledging that the City has started the process of building a new water treatment plant, so let’s check that off the list. What is your Vision for Chickasha?
The City has been working on a comprehensive plan to use over the next few decades, hopefully many of you have heard of “Onward Chickasha?” Over the next eight weeks, the City will release information based upon citizen feedback on what they are considering doing on topics such as: Land Use, Infrastructure, Transportation, Housing, Economy & Downtown, Parks & Recreation and Community Character & Quality of Life. The fact that City engaged a consulting company to seek citizen input and assemble a plan for our future is impressive. Kudos to the City for being proactive rather than reactive. Now we need to do our part.
What are Community needs over the next eight weeks are active participants sharing their thoughts for how to make our town better. This will be one of the last chances to influence the Onward Chickasha Comprehensive Plan before it starts to be implemented. If you care about our town, take a few minutes and go to the City website and give your input. It’s kind of like voting for a political candidate, if you want things to get better you have to get out and vote! Go to www.chickasha.org.
I consistently hear positive things when I talk to people around town. People will tell me that there was not much going on for decades, but now they like to see all the progress being made. New businesses along Grand avenue and along 4th street, improvements at all our schools, new housing additions going up, buildings being remodeled downtown, new events added and traditional ones being improved. I hear the word momentum being tossed around a lot. I have heard comments that you can feel the “energy” that our Community has now. Visitors have also been very complimentary on what they see, but we must keep working to improve where we live, work and play!
I have said this before and I will say it again: We have to work TOGETHER to grow and improve! We have to have a shared Vision for Chickasha and then everyone has to do their part to make our Community better. Please go to Onward Chickasha on the City’s website and tell the them what you think about the preliminary plans. Take a few minutes and share your thoughts about all #TheGoodStuff happening in our town!
